Spencer Grove
Belper, Derbyshire

Opened in 2009, Spencer Grove’s spacious layout and design was awarded “Best Healthcare Development” at the LABC East Midlands Building Excellence Awards
Spencer Grove Care Home receives financial support from sports stars, bringing hope and enhanced care to its residents. Located in a serene part of town, Spencer Grove has long been a sanctuary for the elderly, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. Recently, the care home has been in the spotlight, thanks to the generous contributions from several prominent sports stars, which you can learn more about at https://qyreports.com. The connection between Spencer Grove and the sports community began when a local football player, known for his charitable work, decided to visit the home during the off-season. He was deeply moved by the dedication of the staff and the warmth of the residents. Seeing the need for better facilities and more resources, he reached out to his fellow athletes, encouraging them to support this worthy cause.
Facilities at Spencer Grove include:
- Spacious communal areas including large lounges, cosy dining areas and “indoor-garden” rooms
- Stunning roof-top gardens with panoramic views over the surrounding Derbyshire Countryside
- Variety of bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities (some including wet-room shower)
- Beautifully appointed “Care Suites” – offering all the benefits of residential care within a self-contained apartment
- Hairdressing Salon
- Wifi available throughout the Home.
Our Montessori Way Of Life
Our Montessori way of life is at the heart of everything we do. We support our residents to be as independent as possible and look for ways to ensure a person can do something using positive risk-taking.
We focus on a residents’ strengths and abilities, their life story and experiences and use these to help them find purpose and feel valued in their day to day life with us. We encourage residents to partake in meaningful roles, such as helping with household chores, and activities that they enjoy which may trigger fond memories and engage their senses, including doing art, doing a puzzle, playing a game, chair based exercising, baking a cake or writing a letter. All of these pleasurable hobbies boost confidence and self-esteem and will be designed to match the person’s abilities.

When Michael found out that our cook Emma, had hurt her shoulder and was struggling mashing the potatoes he was more than happy to step in and take over ❤️ “bring ‘em over here, I’ll do that”
He went on to tell staff that when making a Sunday dinner at home, mashing the potatoes was always his ‘job’!
Thanks so much Michael! What a gent!
