At Buddleia House: Care Home, we've said a fond farewell to Home Manager Rachel, who is moving on to an exciting new chapter at our Alfreton-based care home, The Meadows:. Rachel has been a wonderful leader, bringing laughter, knowledge and warmth to Buddleia House. We're so grateful for everything she has given to the home and wish her every success in her new role. 🌸
We're also delighted to announce some fantastic internal promotions at Buddleia House:
✨ Alisha Hussain will be stepping up to the role of Home Manager. Since joining as Deputy Manager last year, Alisha has demonstrated an incredible passion for care, a positive energy, and a genuine commitment to both residents and staff.
✨ Mary Inger-Newton will take on the role of Deputy Manager. With her experience, enthusiasm and determination, we know she will be a great support to Alisha and the whole team.
✨ Tammy Jo Foster will become Care Leader. Tammy’s ambition and dedication, along with her ongoing NVQ 5 studies, make her a brilliant fit for this role.

❤️ Improving both the physical and mental well-being of our residents is important to us at Milford House: Care Home, so we began our seated yoga classes. It has been shown that yoga can help to reduce anxiety and agitation and bring a sense of relaxation, especially in those living with dementia. Our outstanding volunteer, Yoga Sue, started this class to keep our residents active and what a hit it was.

Activities Coordinator, Stacy, brought in her pooch, Milo, to have lots of cuddles with our residents.
At Milford Care, we use pet therapy as part of our Montessori approach to encourage social interaction and help boost self-esteem.
💚 Animal therapy plays a critical part in the decrease of isolation, loneliness and all forms of cognitive decline. It brings interactive companionship, happiness and purpose without the responsibility of owning a pet. It continues to work wonders for our homes, and it always brings so many smiles!

Cookie Day fun at Spencer Grove 🍪
Yesterday, we celebrated National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day at Spencer Grove: Care Home with some lovely baking fun. Thanks to our kind friends at Caring Works for providing the cookie mix that got us started.
Ann and Margaret took to the kitchen in the morning and did a fantastic job baking up a batch of cookies. In the afternoon, they enjoyed the fruits of their labour with a well-deserved cuppa and a sweet treat.
Baking activities like this are a wonderful way for residents to connect and enjoy a real sense of purpose. It’s always a joy to see smiles around the table and the smell of freshly baked cookies filling the air.

This morning, our residents got involved in sensory activities and ball games designed to improve hand-eye coordination and encourage gentle movement. These kinds of sessions are a regular part of life at Hazelgrove and are more than just enjoyable: they help maintain motor skills, focus, and confidence.
It was a great start to the day, and everyone left the session feeling uplifted. It’s always rewarding to see how these small but thoughtful activities make a real difference.

At Milford Care, we love seeing residents take on roles that bring purpose and a bit of fun to their day (and it's even better when the sun's out!).
Recently, Alan, who lives at Buddleia House: Care Home has been teaming up with Dave from our maintenance team to help water the garden, and he’s been doing a brilliant job.
To show his appreciation, Dave presented Alan with a Certificate of Appreciation and a well-deserved thank you for all his hard work.
This kind of positive risk-taking is part of our Montessori approach, which focuses on what people can do. By getting to know our residents well, including their likes, dislikes, strengths and interests, we can create meaningful opportunities that promote independence and enjoyment.
