Buddleia House
Hucknall, Nottinghamshire
A thriving community - not a posh hotel
Forget the glossy brochures and hotel-like care homes that focus on appearances over substance. Buddleia House is different. Here, care isn’t a checklist or a set of scheduled activities – it’s in everything we do, every single moment of every single day.
We don’t provide fancy chandeliers and a grand entrance foyer. Instead, we invest in everything that makes a difference to the residents’ quality of life.
Buddleia House is a thriving community; a place of laughter, connection, and real relationships, where carers truly understand each resident’s needs and go beyond surface-level support.
Buddleia House has been uniquely designed with total focus on meaningful living. Drawing on best practices in dementia care, design, nutrition, technology, and meaningful engagement, we’ve created an environment where residents are enabled, find purpose and a sense of belonging. Our efforts have been recognised with accolades such as the highest quality ratings from the Council and an Outstanding rating for Effective care by the Care Quality Commission.
Montessori Care – living with purpose, not just being cared for
Traditional care homes focus on providing what’s lost—mobility, memory, independence. We focus on what’s still possible. Our Montessori-inspired care ensures that residents continue to engage, contribute, and live with purpose.
All our staff, not just carers, have a role to play in our jigsaw culture, and that’s why everyone is expertly trained professionals in Montessori Care methods. We pour resources into training because we believe that exceptional care isn’t an extra.

Meet the Care Home Manager
Alisha Hussain
I’ve been working in care since 2018, starting part-time at Skylarks Church Farm Nursing Home while studying Law at Nottingham Trent University. What began as a weekend job soon grew into a passion, inspired by the time I spent caring for my late grandma, who was a dialysis patient.
Over the years, I’ve taken on various roles, including care coordinator, senior care leader, and even acting deputy manager. Each experience has shaped me and strengthened my love for supporting others. In March 2024, I joined Milford Care as Deputy Manager at Buddleia House, and now I’m the Care Home Manager. I’ve loved every moment of working with such a fantastic team.
Family means everything to me — I’m lucky to have two older sisters and three younger brothers who keep life full of laughter. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, shopping, listening to music, and planning events or home projects. I’m also a big football fan and have supported Ronaldo since I was a child.
