Meaningful living at Buddleia House
At Buddleia House, we pride ourselves on providing the kind of care we’d want for our own loved ones—compassionate and personal from expertly trained carers who genuinely care. Here we believe in making everyday matter; we aim to support people to live their lives, write new chapters and find moments of joy at every opportunity.
Our home is a warm and welcoming place, built on family values and a true sense of community. It’s a place filled with laughter, companionship, and genuine connections, where residents form trusting, familiar relationships with carers who truly understand their needs.
Buddleia House has been uniquely designed with total focus on meaningful living. Drawing on best practices in dementia care, design, nutrition, technology, and meaningful engagement, we create an environment where residents feel valued, purposeful, and part of a vibrant community. Our efforts have been recognised with accolades such as the highest quality ratings from the Council and inclusion in the East Midlands Top 20 Care Homes.
With unique features like a sweet shop, an in-house pub, and therapeutic gardens, all residents have access to meaningful activities that promote positive risk-taking, independence, and joy in their daily lives.

Experience the difference with Montessori care
We believe that care for our residents should be empowering, engaging, and filled with purpose. That’s why we specialise in the Montessori Care approach.
We focus on a resident’s strengths and abilities, their life story and experiences and use these to help them find purpose and feel valued in their day to day life with us. We encourage residents to be active and involved in their community and partake in meaningful roles.
We engage residents to help with household chores, gardening, interviewing new staff. We offer activities that the enjoy which may trigger fond memories and engage their senses, chair based exercising, baking a cake or writing a letter. All of these pleasurable hobbies boost confidence and self-esteem and will be designed to match the person’s abilities.

Meet the Care Home Manager
Rachel Squire
I have always known that I would find myself caring for others. At 19, I left college and worked in a few different social care settings before finding my passion in dementia care.
I began my career as a care assistant and found myself as a Home Manager for a care home at 24 years old, and haven’t looked back since! I’m very excited to be a part of Milford Care – they have a great ethos and have values that match mine, including empowering and engaging with residents and staff.
I’m always on the go but that’s how I like it! I have a gorgeous 5-year-old daughter who keeps me on my toes. We love spending time outside looking for fairies, and I’m also in a choir based in Belper, so I am always ready to sing songs.
