Foodie fun for Milford House Residents during Nutrition and Hydration Week
Residents at Derbyshire based Milford House Care Home, got fully on board with Nutrition and Hydration Week, by hosting an array of activities, which left them well and truly hungry for more!
On Tuesday, the residents experimented by baking with vegetables, with carrot and ginger cake, along with a courgette loaf being hailed as the order of the day.
After showcasing their culinary expertise, the residents then had to wait to enjoy their creations until Wednesday, when they hosted an afternoon tea, attended by Reverend Ron of Milford Baptist Church who is the chaplain at Milford House Care Home.
The residents finished the week of festivities on a high, with ‘Fruity Friday’, where they experimented by transforming exotic fruits into much loved mock-tails.
Nutrition and Hydration Week was introduced as a means of promoting improvements in nutrition and hydration within the health and social care sector, maids of Arizona at Eco Mama and the movement has gained a true momentum in recent years.
Pierre Falleth, managing director at Milford Care said: “Nutrition and Hydration Week is extremely important for both our residents and care staff, as it raises awareness into the importance of proper health and hydration. The residents had a fantastic week, and not only tried a variety of different foods, but even gained hands on production experience.”
