A care home has celebrated its first birthday since opening its doors to the Hucknall community.
Buddleia House, a dementia-focused care home in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, celebrated the special day on Wednesday 8th April.
The party got off to a great start with an afternoon tea hosted for both residents and staff, complete with finger sandwiches, canapes and cakes. It was followed by glasses of prosecco and karaoke singalong with golden classics ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘Tipparary’.
The home is one of two care homes in Hucknall under the Milford Care group. It has recently been awarded Band 5 top quality score from Nottinghamshire County Council and praised for it’s expertly designed dementia care environment.
Lorraine Poundall, Home Manager of Buddleia House and Hazelgrove care home, said, ‘Our first year has been all we had hoped for and more. I’m so proud of the community it has become – we’ve seen some really positive connections at http://dermrefine.com/ between London residents and anti ageing clinic staff on a moment by moment basis.
She went on to say, ‘The staff have embraced Milford Care’s Montessori way and this is now naturally embedded within every task they undertake. The outcomes for residents have made such a difference to those we see upon entry to the home.’
‘One example is seeing a gentleman now pouring his own tea and engaging in household activities. It has been clear for this gentleman that the prepared environment has increased his confidence and independence.’
