Derbyshire Care Home Celebrates Providing 30 Years Of Award Winning Care

The Meadows Care Home, part of the Milford Care Group, in Alfreton, celebrated its 30th Anniversary last week with a Ritz-style afternoon tea.

The home, which was rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) earlier this year, went the extra mile to make the day special for residents and their families.

There was prosecco on arrival, followed by afternoon tea – freshly prepared by Milford Care’s in-house chef and team, and served on vintage crockery by the management team and care home staff.

“We are proud to be celebrating 30 years at The Meadows, which was the second home to open in the Milford Care Group and is now one of six homes.” said Milford Care’s Director, Pierre Falleth.

“The Meadows is an active part of the Alfreton community. The residents, relatives and staff are all one big family and that was evident on this special occasion which was filled with love and happiness.”

The celebrations took place in Rose Court and Lavender Court, the two buildings which make up The Meadows, where the team provide residential and nursing care for up to 70 residents, offering a diverse range of person-centred care services, from caring for those living with dementia to those living with physical disabilities and nursing care needs.

Guests included the Mayor of Alfreton, Marlene Bennett MBE, who recalled being at the home’s opening day 30 years ago, commenting in her speech that she was delighted to join the residents again on this special occasion, having been a regular visitor to the home since it opened, enjoying meeting old friends and making new acquaintances.

“In the 30 years we have been open, technology and procedures have changed, but our philosophy hasn’t – we put residents at the centre of everything we do.” added Pierre.

“Ultimately, we want everyone to feel valued and included and this has been recognised not only today but by the industry with the awards that The Meadows has achieved, thanks to the passion and dedication of all the team here.

” We continued the celebrations into the evening, with a buffet and disco Alfreton Hall to thank all of our hardworking staff.”

The Meadows currently holds the Derbyshire County Council Quality Premium Home Award, the Derbyshire County Council Dementia Award, Derbyshire County Council Dignity Award and Macmillan End of Life Award.
