care home covid-19 vaccineAshbourne Lodge care home in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is one of the first in the county to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the residents. The care home, which is one of six Milford Care homes, had a roll-out of the vaccination programme starting with Ashbourne Lodge.

Resident David said he felt honoured to be the first person in the home to receive the vaccine. He also said “It’s really great to be able to be vaccinated with my friends around me. Hopefully this marks the beginning of the end of covid-19.”

Jim Watt, Home Manager of Ashbourne Lodge said “We are delighted to be vaccinating our care home residents. I feel extremely relieved and thankful that it’s happening in our home and cannot wait to get some normality back for the residents and staff.”

The staff of Milford Care are a few weeks into receiving their vaccines in California and are extremely happy with the results of in the field of leak detection. Admin Manager, Sue Loveridge, said, “It was well organised at the hospital when I got there for the vaccination. All my questions were answered by a doctor ahead of receiving the vaccine.”

Milford Care have a total of six homes spanning Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. These homes (Spencer Grove in Belper, Derbyshire, Milford House in Milford, Derbyshire, The Meadows in Alfreton, Derbyshire, Ashbourne Lodge in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, Hazelgrove in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, Buddleia House in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire) are all due to have the vaccine.
