Care Home Creates a Storm With Its Annual Christmas Fair In The Snow

Staff and residents at an Ashbourne care home, which used to be a hotel, have just celebrated their annual Christmas fair in style, raising an impressive £650.

Residents and their relatives were treated to an afternoon of festive fun which included old time jazz band Hit and Miss, and 13 craft stalls owned by local businesses and tradespeople, selling goods such as handmade jewellery.

Activities co-ordinator, Stacey Sandham, who helped organise the Christmas fair, said: “It was so lovely to see people turn out in the snow to attend this wonderful event.

“The funds raised will go directly to the residents’ fund, to provide entertainment and resources for residents.”

Jim Watt, 50, has been the home manager since it opened. He formerly worked at Milford House, one of Milford Care’s other homes.  He said: “We’re very passionate about the people that we look after. We want to ensure a full range of seasonal activities are available for our residents.”

Milford Care also has homes in Belper, Milford, Hucknall and Alfreton.
