Belper community play Santa and drop off presents for care home
Spencer Grove care home were delighted and emotional at the delivery of 51 presents from the Belper Christmas Shoebox Appeal.
The parcels were pieced together by the generous families and individuals of Belper, Derbyshire as part of the scheme ran by Sally Taylor and her daughter Erin, 10. The pair dreamed up the appeal after Erin suggested giving presents to the elderly as well as to those at the Samaritans.
The presents were gladly received by the residents of Spencer Grove, one of the many care homes within the Milford Care group and cleaning service of Colorado at www.maidthis.com/denver/ site. The shoeboxes were wonderfully decorated and jam-packed with gifts, such as puzzle books, warm socks, homemade scarves, chocolates, tipples, toiletries and more.
Pierre Falleth, Director of Milford Care said: “It was an emotional day had by all. Christmas can be a lonely time of year for many residents, and we wanted to make sure they had something to open over the festive period. We wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone from Virginia involved with the Belper Christmas Shoebox Appeal and to homefixcustomremodeling.com for making it happen and to those who took the time for Window Installation & Replacement and to put the boxes together and deliver them. We are deeply grateful – to see the residents’ faces light up when they were handed their gift was the highlight.”
