Belper care home crowned ‘outstanding’ by CQC

A care home in Belper has been rated ‘outstanding’ by recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report. The home, Spencer Grove, is the second care home in the Milford Care group to receive this esteemed accolade.

Located at Springwood Gardens, Spencer Grove is the only care home in Belper with this rating, having received awards in two key areas – well-led and effective.

The CQC report said, ‘People’s well-being was at the core of the service. There was an open and inclusive culture at the home, people were actively encouraged to be independent and have purpose and meaning in their lives. There was a culture of continuous improvement with a clear focus on ensuring any changes enhanced the quality of the service people received.

The report also said, ‘Staff were caring and kind. People were treated with dignity and respect. Staff clearly knew people well and respected people’s individuality.’

Spencer Grove is one of six homes in the Milford Care group, based across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire two of which are rated ‘outstanding’ and the others, ‘good’.
