Care home reveals 19 new bedrooms and Market Hall with pub, spa and travel agent

Ashbourne Lodge in Ashbourne, Derbyshire has become one of the most sought after care homes in the county, becoming the highest-rated care home in the Derbyshire Dales area* (carehome.co.uk). The home has had so much demand, the Milford Care team decided to extend the home to house more residents.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC, the care home has announced its final stages of preparing for the 19-bed dementia-focused care unit. Similar to the individuality of Ashbourne Lodge, the extension offers a rich environment and the opportunity to live a fulfilled life with purpose and independence with facilities including a pub, shop, kiosk, nursery, travel agent and even a new spa room, made as a glamorous addition to give residents treatments on tap!

This new Market Hall has been designed meticulously by the Montessori specialists at Milford Care which uses the best practice in care, food and nutrition, design and methods to engage residents in meaningful activities and help them find purpose in their day, feel a part of their community and be fulfilled.

Jim Watt, Registered Home Manager of Ashbourne Lodge said, “Life at Ashbourne Lodge is very different to other care homes. We want to enable individuals to have an enriched life here by supporting them to be as independent as possible, having a meaningful place in our community and with purposeful living at every opportunity. We feel passionately that each resident has a part to play in the running of the home, whether that’s helping set the table, picking the meals for our seasonal menu, folding the towels or running the book club, and this extension will help with this freedom.

Ashbourne Lodge is a part of the Milford Care group which has six care homes across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, two of which are rated ‘Outstanding’ from CQC.
