Buddleia House is so much more than your typical care home. Endeavouring to cater to all the senses that just can’t be understood until you walk through the doors of our home. We’ve also just been awarded our Band 5 Quality Score from Nottinghamshire County Council.
Residents can enjoy and engage in daily living, whatever their ability or condition. Our community has an indoor garden area, a pub, library area, a pantry, sweet shop, creative art and music areas, and lots of other engaging facilities both indoors and outdoors from raised garden beds to a beer garden. Our Montessori Way Of Life
Our Montessori way of life is at the heart of everything we do. We support our residents to be as independent as possible and look for ways to ensure a person can do something using positive risk-taking.
We focus on a residents’ strengths and abilities, their life story and experiences and use these to help them find purpose and feel valued in their day to day life with us. We encourage residents to partake in meaningful roles, such as helping with household chores, and activities that they enjoy which may trigger fond memories and engage their senses, including doing art, doing a puzzle, playing a game, chair based exercising, baking a cake or writing a letter. All of these pleasurable hobbies boost confidence and self-esteem and will be designed to match the person’s abilities.

Home Manager
I’ve been working in care since 2018, starting part-time at Skylarks Church Farm Nursing Home while studying Law at Nottingham Trent University. What began as a weekend job soon grew into a passion, inspired by the time I spent caring for my late grandma, who was a dialysis patient.
Over the years, I’ve taken on various roles, including care coordinator, senior care leader, and even acting deputy manager. Each experience has shaped me and strengthened my love for supporting others. In March 2024, I joined Milford Care as Deputy Manager at Buddleia House, and now I’m the Care Home Manager. I’ve loved every moment of working with such a fantastic team.
Family means everything to me — I’m lucky to have two older sisters and three younger brothers who keep life full of laughter. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, shopping, listening to music, and planning events or home projects. I’m also a big football fan and have supported Ronaldo since I was a child.

Our residents have been enjoying a wonderful journey through a variety of books at this month's Book Club, including Autumn Celebrations, Bringing Up Baby, Agatha Christie: Queen of Crime, and Saturday Night at the Movies.
To make each session even more meaningful, our Wellbeing Team carefully decorated the tables to match the theme of each book. From autumn leaves, pumpkins and seasonal displays for Autumn Celebrations, to vintage film memorabilia, cinema tickets and popcorn-inspired decorations for Saturday Night at the Movies, every table was designed to bring the stories to life.
These themed displays provide visual prompts that spark memories, encourage conversation and help residents connect with the subject matter. Residents were able to explore the items, share their experiences and engage more deeply with the discussions, making the sessions both enjoyable and interactive.
This approach links closely with the Montessori philosophy, which promotes learning through hands-on experiences, sensory engagement and meaningful activities. By providing real objects and visual cues, residents are encouraged to lead conversations, make connections to their own lives and remain actively involved in the activity.
It has been wonderful to see residents reminiscing, sharing stories, expressing opinions and supporting one another during discussions. 🎤 YOUNG ELVIS TOOK OVER BUDDLEIA HOUSE TODAY! 🕺
What an absolute treat we had this afternoon – the incredible Young Elvis stepped in to entertain our residents, and what a show he put on! 🎶
From classic hits to all those iconic tunes everyone knows and loves, the music was absolutely fabulous. 🎵 There was singing, dancing, and so much laughter filling every corner of the house – our friends had the best time tapping their feet, joining in, and enjoying every single moment.
Smiles all round, great music, and memories made together – that's what it's all about! 💛

🎨 Craft Club Day – Making Beautiful Cards & Memories! 🎨
Our residents had a fantastic time at our craft club session getting stuck into a lovely card-making activity. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged, chatting away with friends, and creating such beautiful handmade cards. 💌
