Hazelgrove
Hucknall, Nottinghamshire
Known throughout Nottingham as 'The Happy Home'
People often tell us that Hazelgrove is ‘The Happy Home’, a place where warmth, laughter, and love fill every corner. It’s not a grand, impersonal facility, but a cosy, welcoming family home where our caring staff treat every resident as part of our extended family. From the moment you step through the door, you’ll feel the joy and sense of belonging that make our home truly special.
We focus on enhancing quality of life and supporting independence, helping every resident find purpose and meaning in their day. For those living with dementia, we offer personalised care, including reminiscence therapy, sensory activities, and gentle routines that create a sense of security and comfort. Our dedicated nursing team is here 24/7, providing expert care with dignity and compassion for those with complex medical needs.
Hazelgrove is known in the community for its vibrant atmosphere, filled with engaging activities, meaningful roles, and events that bring everyone together. Choosing the right care home for a loved one can feel overwhelming, but at Hazelgrove, we make it easy. Come visit us for the day, free of charge, and experience the warmth and happiness for yourself.
Montessori Care – living with purpose, not just being cared for
At Hazelgrove, we believe in creating a home that is centred around each resident’s unique abilities, life story, and experiences. Our approach is all about encouraging independence and finding meaningful ways for our residents to stay engaged and feel valued. We look for opportunities to support residents in doing what they can, embracing positive risk-taking to help them maintain their sense of purpose and dignity.
We focus on what our residents can do, not what they can’t, and we celebrate their strengths. Whether it’s through participating in everyday household tasks, enjoying creative hobbies, or taking part in sensory activities, we make sure that everything is tailored to their individual preferences and abilities. From baking a cake to doing a puzzle, playing a game, or enjoying chair-based exercise, these simple joys help boost confidence, stimulate the mind, and promote a sense of achievement.
At Hazelgrove, every resident is encouraged to enjoy the things they love, triggering fond memories and building connections through activities that engage both the body and mind. It’s all about helping them live with purpose and feel truly at home.

Meet the Care Home Manager
Nigel Allen
I’m really pleased to have joined Hazelgrove as Home Manager. I’ve worked in the care sector for over 10 years, starting as an Associate Manager and subsequently managing homes across England. It’s been a rewarding journey that’s given me lots of experience and some great friendships along the way.
Before working in care, I managed spas, hotels, and gyms in Suffolk and Essex, which helped me develop strong communication and customer service skills. I chose Hazelgrove because of the warm, family feel and brilliant reputation. From the very beginning, it felt like the right place to be.
Outside of work, I’m a big fan of motor racing and enjoy films, music, reading, and most sports. I spend most of my free time with my daughter and family, who mean the world to me.
