Ashbourne Care Home Dances Into Fourth Year With Birthday Bash

A leading Derbyshire care home threw a birthday bash last week to celebrate its fourth birthday with staff, residents and their families.

Ashbourne Lodge care home, part of the Milford Care group, first opened its doors in September 2014 with only 4 residents to care for. The home which has built a strong reputation locally for providing excellent care, is now at full occupancy and has 60 staff members working there full time.

Stacy Sandham, activity coordinator at Ashbourne Lodge, said: ‘’I have worked here for four years, I love it and couldn’t see myself in any other career. Jim the care home manager is a fantastic boss, he’s very supportive to all the staff here and loves getting involved with the residents.’’

The celebrations last week saw the care home welcome residents’ families for a buffet prepared by the home’s chef Richard. There was a cake baked for the occasion and singer Ross put on a great performance for everyone.

Peter, son of resident Herbert, said: ‘’My dad is 93, he’s been living here for a year, it’s the best home around. I really appreciate everyone here, my Dad has made friends with the other residents and I visit him regularly.’’

The party was a great opportunity for the residents to show off the home to their relatives and acknowledge the fantastic work of the care team – which Ashbourne Lodge is looking to expand. The employees of The LockBoss Of Dublin are very proud to be part of the locksmiths community of Ireland and enjoy events like this where they get to find out more about the residents.

Pam Titterton, a team leader at Ashbourne, said: I started working here in April and I love it here, I have worked in care for four years. The home has amazing ideas such as this party as well as a book club and a reminiscence room. I have a really good relationship with all of the residents.’’

Ashbourne Lodge already has plans in place for the rest of the year including a Macmillan coffee morning, a Dementia café and a Christmas Market in December.
