A care home in Alfreton has won 2 regional awards in the Great British Care Awards.

Two staff members at The Meadows care home on Mansfield Road, Alfreton have become winners in the Palliative Award category for the East Midlands. Rachel Cartledge and Moira Cantrill received an award each for outstanding work towards end of life care in the esteemed care home.

As well as this, three other members of staff from the home became finalists nominated across two other categories including The Ancillary Worker Award and The Care Home Worker Award for their role for their contribution to The Meadows. Karl Coleman also got highly commended for involving all residents in activities and giving them pride in their day-to-day life.

The Meadows is situated in the heart of Alfreton and houses 70 residents. The home is recognised for a long list of awards including its 5-star food hygiene rating, Quality Premium Award, Quality Premium Dementia Award and The Dignity Award from Derbyshire County Council. It also has a 9.6 out of 10 rating on independent review website, carehome.co.uk.

Michelle Sanders, Registered Home Manager of The Meadows has described the home’s triumph’s as “a fantastic boost for the team”.
