This week, Ashbourne Lodge Care Home residents have enjoyed dreaming of warmer days and pints at the pub with the Summer Festivals story.
In all six of our care homes, our residents run a weekly book club to bond over stories, reminisce over past experiences and engage with one another. Each book club session brings a world of benefits to our residents, including:

🇹🇩 At Milford Care, we believe in the beauty of cultural diversity and the richness it brings to our care homes. Throughout the month of March, we've been shining a spotlight on Romania, celebrating its vibrant traditions, history, and contributions to our global community.
Our staff, residents, and their families have enjoyed traditional Romanian dancing, helped make classic Romanian dishes, and spent hours crafting flags, maps, and fact files. They’ve had a uimitor (amazing) time!

📝“When I told the Companions at Buddleia House about my working life and how I missed it, they were keen to give me a position to be proud of. I started by sitting with the lovely ladies in the office, where they gave me some envelopes to put stamps on. It was good fun and made me feel like I had a purpose.”
When Marilyn had a fall at home, the next step was to move into Buddleia House: Care Home. Fast forward three years, and Marilyn has lots of confidence and a job within the office, complete with her own name badge and job description.

Mum’s hate of the very old lift, which she originally had to take to her second-floor bedroom, was addressed by the home manager, and a move was made to a ground-floor room. A visit from the local school 💚
The children from Ashbourne Hilltop School came for a visit to Ashbourne Lodge Care Home for food, games and a chance to catch up with our lovely residents.
Intergenerational activities have been proven to benefit both youngsters and the young at heart! Such activities give older people opportunities for socialising, mental and physical stimulation, emotional support, and personal growth.
