Job Summary

We are looking for flexible and committed people who can contribute to our already exceptional team. As a Roaming Care Assistant, you will support the Care teams in the five Milford Care homes across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire by helping cover staff absences, holidays etc. If you are hardworking, a team player and can deliver award-winning care, then we want to hear from you.

About you:

You must be a compassionate and caring person with a passion for caring for older adults. You must be reliable and dependable, and committed to making a difference to other people’s lives. Your lifestyle must allow for a good level of flexibility as you may be called to work at any of the Milford Care homes in Milford, Alfreton, Belper, Hucknall or Ashbourne on a short notice. Having your own car and a clean driving license is useful because of the nature of the role.

About the role:

Care Assistants are required to tend to resident’s needs throughout the day and night. This will include working as a team to respond to call bells, assist residents with personal care, repositioning and their nutritional requirements and offering comfort and companionship to residents. As a Roaming Care Assistant, you may be called to work at any of the Milford Care homes in Milford, Alfreton, Belper, Nottingham or Ashbourne. You will be guaranteed a set number of hours monthly (equivalent to a full-time or a part-time role dependent on your wishes), and will have the opportunity to pick up additional work if you wish.

Award winning Milford Care Group is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join their team at Hazelgrove Care Home in Hucknall.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good clinical skills and a passion for caring for Older Adults. Previous experience of working in a Care Home or related setting is preferable, but not essential. Excellent communication skills – both verbally and in writing, are key qualities, as is the ability to lead and work as part of a team. Applicants must be qualified nurses with a valid UK PIN.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Have responsibility for all nursing aspects of the daily operation of care delivery ensuring that it is in keeping with Milford Care’s ethos
– All aspects of care afforded to each Resident is of the highest quality and is person centered reflecting their individual needs and preferences
– Care Plans are written with a person centered focus and are reflective of all aspects of their care
– At all times the Group’s excellent reputation for high quality care is maintained and promoted in the local community
– The NMC Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times
– Support the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager In order to ensure that the Home complies with relevant regulations and legislation’s;
– Support the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager with visits from the CQC, NCC/DCC, CCG and other regulatory/inspecting bodies, and organise and plan agreed follow-ups in regards to nursing and any care matters in the home;
– Leading a team of Care Assistants on shift to ensure that residents receive a high quality of care in a timely and efficient manner.
– To control and give any medication as prescribed with proper monitoring of the drug, dose, time, route and person to whom it is given, following the Medication Policy and Procedure laid out in the Quality Manual and clinical guidelines and completing necessary documentation
– On a day to day basis take the lead role, liaising with the Clinical Lead or the Registered Manager in his/her absence, for individual assessment and reassessment of nursing and care needs including the management of;
– Support the Clinical Lead/Registered Manager in ensuring that care staff supervisions, performance appraisals and assessments are carried out and followed up on in order to identify and promote appropriate training and/or individual achievement requirements
– Mentor new nurses, care assistants and care leaders as required
– Ensure that any staffing issues are dealt with by following the policies and procedures
Assist in identifying and assessing the staffing requirements to meet service user
– Actively engage in identifying your own training/developmental needs and communicating these to the Clinical Lead, Registered Manager or Nurse Quality Manager
– To complete nurse checklists (AM, PM and Night) and report any issues to Clinical Lead / Registered Manager
To complete any audits as allocated by the Clinical Lead / Registered Manager
– Have regular discussions with the Clinical Lead/Registered Manager to discuss any management or nursing/clinical matters.
– Continually oversee and monitor all care and nursing aspects of the running of the home to ensure that high quality care standards are maintained at all times.
– Promote and uphold the home’s policies and procedure
– Liaise with the Registered Manager on any all matters concerning the running of the Home which need their attention or approval
– Ensure that Care Plans are thoroughly prepared with a person centered approach, in consultation with each Resident (and/or Relative if they have Power of Attorney for Health) and all other persons with a relevant input e.g. GP, Care Manager, in order to meet the Resident’s individual needs.
– Ensure all fire checks are completed in accordance with the daily fire checklist and any issues brought to the immediate attention of the Registered Manager.20
