Spencer Grove Care Home

Belper, Derbyshire

Award-winning Spencer Grove's unique facilities help provide the very best in comfort and care in a stimulating environment.

Opened in January 2009, the home was professionally designed both with older people's needs and wishes in mind and our wealth of experience in caring for them.

Its spacious layout was recognised in 2009 when Spencer Grove and Lady Well Views Close Care Retirement Apartments won 'Best Healthcare Development 2009' in the LABC East Midlands Building Excellence Awards.

Our beautiful Roof Top Gardens have panoramic views of the Derbyshire countryside. With water features, sensory plants and raised flowerbeds, they create a relaxing and engaging environment for our residents. In cooler months residents can enjoy our indoor gardens, designed to look and feel like a Mediterranean courtyard with bright flowers and light streaming through the atrium.

But the heart of Spencer Grove is its people – including our staff who are trained and qualified to deliver the best service to our residents. We also have excellent relations with other visiting healthcare professionals such as GPs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and podiatrists. We already hold the Quality Premium Award from Derbyshire County Council and scored over 98 per cent in the most recent Primary Care Trust Audit of Nursing Care in 2010.

“Everyone at Spencer Grove has given my mother in law loving attentive care since her admission there in April 2015. The staff are always cheerful and genuinely care for all their residents. My husband and I are very happy to see how well she is being cared for… I like the fact that we can visit her at any time of the day, no set visiting times and, whenever we go, we are always welcomed by all. Mother always tells us that they are very good to her.”

“I visit weekly and have nothing but praise for all the staff - from the cleaners, to the kitchen ladies, to the carers and the office staff. I see them all and they are all kind, courteous, very caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. You are made very welcome when you visit and if you have any questions they find the time to talk with you. They also find time to talk with the residents which is nice to see. The residential home is clean, well maintained and the food is good. Keep up the good work Spencer Grove Care Home – Excellent.”

“Spencer Grove is a well-run care home. The managers are approachable and very helpful. The care staff are always cheerful and have time to answer any questions you may have. The ancillary staff again are always cheerful. The home is kept very clean and the rooms are spacious and airy… On my visits my Dad is always comfortable and his needs are well catered for. There are activities for the residents to take part in and the introduction this year of a monthly trip out has been a great success with the residents”

“A very big thank you for all your care in looking after [Dad]. It was such a comfort when visiting Dad to always see him in clean clothes and to know that he was well fed. His bedroom was spotless. I very much appreciated being made to feel welcome and any concerns or worries were dealt with immediately and sympathetically. You all do a marvelous job”

“We have been so impressed by the way that everyone cared for [Dad]. It means a lot to us that everyone knew him and would stop and talk or dance with him. We don’t think he could have had better care anywhere else – we are so glad we chose Spencer Grove”

“We would just like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all you did for Mum. She came to you in late 2013 and as with many families, this was a difficult decision to make, but she was well looked after, content and happy whilst at Spencer Grove… we want to thank you for the care which you have shown through this time, ir has meant a lot to us all… you were all so respectful and sensitive to her (and our) needs.”
