Buddleia House

Hucknall, Nottinghamshire

Dementia care and supported living in beautiful surroundings.

At Buddleia House, we pride ourselves on delivering a level of care that focuses directly on your loved one. We focus on what an individual needs in order to return a sense of independence back into their life, keeping residents at the heart.

Buddleia House is so much more than your typical care home. Endeavouring to cater to all the senses that just can’t be understood until you walk through the doors of our home. We’ve also just been awarded our Band 5 Quality Score from Nottinghamshire County Council

Residents can enjoy and engage in daily living, whatever their ability or condition. Our community has an indoor garden area, a pub, library area, a pantry, sweet shop, creative art and music areas, and lots of other engaging facilities both indoors and outdoors from raised garden beds to a beer garden. It’s a care home like no other in Hucknall. It’s Residential Care the way it should be.

We’d love to meet you in person, so you’re welcomed to pop in anytime or arrange a visit with us so someone can talk you through all of what’s on offer. Would you like to find out a bit more? Why not order a FREE brochure from us to get more of an insight into what we do? You can read our latest press release here.

Facilities at Buddleia House will include:

"When I first heard about Buddleia House, I thought don’t be daft, a sweet shop and a nursery in a care home? But I can see after today it’s a great way to help people live life the way they think they should. It’s really empowering, encouraging them to do what they want, and I’m really impressed with the focus on living with dementia.”

Our Montessori Way Of Life

Our Montessori way of life is at the heart of everything we do. We support our residents to be as independent as possible and look for ways to ensure a person can do something using positive risk-taking.

We focus on a residents’ strengths and abilities, their life story and experiences and use these to help them find purpose and feel valued in their day to day life with us. We encourage residents to partake in meaningful roles, such as helping with household chores, and activities that the enjoy which may trigger fond memories and engage their senses, including doing art, doing a puzzle, playing a game, chair based exercising, baking a cake or writing a letter. All of these pleasurable hobbies boost confidence and self-esteem and will be designed to match the person’s abilities.

Meet Your Care Home Manager

Rachel Squire

Registered Home Manager

I have always known that I would find myself caring for others. At 19, I left college and worked in a few different social care settings before finding my passion in dementia care.

I began my career as a care assistant and found myself as a Home Manager for a care home at 24 years old, and haven’t looked back since! I’m very excited to be a part of Milford Care – they have a great ethos and have values that match mine, including empowering and engaging with residents and staff.

I’m always on the go but that’s how I like it! I have a gorgeous 5-year-old daughter who keeps me on my toes. We love spending time outside looking for fairies, and I’m also in a choir based in Belper, so I am always ready to sing songs.

It's been a busy daBuddleia House: Care Home Home . We have been enjoying spending time outdoors in our lovely garden. Sowing seeds, tidying up and painting frames for a project we are working on.

Our lovely Maureen has also been keeping busy knitting squares for a blanket she is making. We have also been helping peel the veg in the kitchen. It's good to keep busy and active.
All in all a lovely day.
